On the nth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
n xs ying, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Arrived back safely yesterday after a longer journey than I'd have liked; had to catch a slow train from Peterborough to London because the fast train was full; standing room only, people were crammed into the doorway areas of the carriages. It's not entirely surprising; Peterborough is the last major stop on a main rail artery connecting London with the north; the train could have originated at Edinburgh, gradually accumulating passengers along the way. Before my parents moved house, I had to do the Peterborough-to-London journey a few times a year, and I generally caught the slow trains back then too because the fast trains were always packed.

I went down with a cold over Christmas. It didn't ruin Christmas Day, fortunately; it hadn't fully broken out then, 'twas just a sore throat and a sniffle. It completely broke out on the 27th, and is now well under control. Still feeling a bit congested, though.

Inconvenient viruses aside, it was mostly a simple, relaxing Christmas spent with family. Can't ask for more than that.
