Got GNU Emacs compiled and running. Took a bit of work; Emacs has a fairly strange bootstrapping process. You compile a C program, which loads a bunch of additional code into itself and then dumps out a new copy of itself with all the additional code pre-loaded. It requires the program to be built in a non-standard way; needless to say, it Didn't Work, and I had to perform some fairly naive hackery in order to make it fly.

I also got the firewalling going. IRC might not work, as the firewall is most likely filtering out DCC connections. I had the same problem with the Linux firewall until I found out the method for working round it. Everything else (including active-mode FTP) seems okay.
