There's a hole in my pocket

Jeans are hard-wearing garments. They last for years. They're also good at hiding dirt (well, the dark coloured ones are), so they don't need washing very often. (I'm not a snappy dresser. I don't wear clean clothes every day. I wear clothes until they go hard; then I beat them with a hammer to soften them up again, and put them back on).

So, why do the toughest trousers in the world have such pathetically flimsy pockets?

The only repairs that ever need doing to my jeans are patches in the pockets. I keep keys, loose change etc. in my pockets, which wear through the thin material. If only the manufacturers would make the pockets out of denim like the rest of the garment, this wouldn't happen.
