My fledgeling Linux from Scratch setup boots. Admittedly, that's about all it does; but hey, it's a start!

I need to install some bits and pieces that are standard on Unix systems, like cron, and a mail system. Once it's a viable Unix system in its own right, I can use it for testing things that I might want to integrate into my Debian setup if they prove successful. In other words, my LfS system is going to be a testbed with no rules, for learning about lower-level Linux setup, and for experimenting. If it all goes horribly wrong, no matter; my primary Debian system is unaffected.

Other news #1: I'm nearing the end of FFVIII. It's still fun to play, although the plot has now collapsed into near-incoherence.

Other news #2: I've had Tara's song from the Buffy music episode stuck in my head for days.
