Take care with experimental kernel patches

Rebuilt my kernel again. Same version as before (2.4.20-ck2), only I backed out one of Con Kolivas' patches. The patch in question alters the kernel's timing to make it more responsive. Unfortunately, I found that the patch was causing a timing-sensitive program I use to crash.

Although my new HDD hasn't arrived yet, I've made a start on my Linux from Scratch setup. I've compiled the statically-linked environment that is used to bootstrap the full system. I've added a few extra static tools in addition to the ones mentioned in the guidelines, as I want to be able to keep it on the system and use it for emergency recovery operations (e.g. if I manage to mess up a C library upgrade or something).
